Do you have questions about a recent EHC decision?
Walsall SEND Services have introduced EHC decision drop-in sessions to give parents and carers the opportunity to speak with a member of the SEND Team about decisions relating to their child's Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs. These sessions are designed to help families understand decisions, ask questions and discuss next steps in a supportive and informal environment.
Who are the sessions for?
These sessions are for parents and carers of children and young people who have recently received a decision relating to:
- a request for an Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA)
- a decision whether to carry out an EHC Needs Assessment
- a decision whether to issue an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
- an EHCP amendment
- an annual review outcome
- other EHCP-related decisions
What can we discuss?
During the session, we can:
✅ Explain how a decision was reached
✅ Clarify the information considered during the decision-making process
✅ Discuss what happens next
✅ Explain available options and routes for further consideration
✅ Signpost you to relevant support and services
✅ Answer general questions about the EHC process
What are these sessions not for?
The sessions are not a formal appeal or review process, and we will not be able to:
❌ Change decisions during the session
❌ Accept new evidence for consideration
❌ Provide legal advice
When and where?
Sessions planned will be held in Family Hubs across Walsall's four localities, with an additional online evening sessions available to support working parents and carers and those who may find it difficult to attend in person.

Why attend?
We know receiving a decision about your child's EHC needs can sometimes raise questions. These sessions provide an opportunity to speak directly with a member of the SEND team to gain a clearer understanding of the process and receive guidance on the support available to your family.
