During the October half term, the Youth SEND Forum came together for a lively and engaging in-person meeting at the Walsall Civic Centre. This special session gave forum members a chance to explore the Civic Centre, connect with one another, and take part in fun and meaningful activities.
The day kicked off with a team-building challenge: constructing spaghetti towers! As the young people worked together to build the tallest and most stable structures, they also reflected on what makes a good team - sharing ideas around communication, collaboration, and mutual respect. The parents joined in too, Parents and carers joined in too, which made it even more fun!
After the activity, the group sat down to talk about their experiences in the Youth SEND Forum. They shared what they enjoy most, what could be improved, and how they’d like the forum to grow. Together, they created a group agreement to guide how they’ll work together going forward - a brilliant example of co-production in action.
Of course, no Youth Forum meeting would be complete without some tasty treats! Doughnuts and cookies were enjoyed by all as conversations continued and friendships blossomed.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a positive and productive session. We’re already looking forward to our next in-person meeting after Christmas!
