ASDA Supported Internship programme in September 2026 for young people aged 17–24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
The Mencap Training Academy is launching DFN Project SEARCH Supported Internship programmes at four ASDA stores across the Black Country, including St Matthews in Walsall, from September 2026.
This one-year programme is for young people aged 17–24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and offers:
- real work experience in a busy retail environment
- skills development and confidence building
- tailored support to move into paid employment
Each internship involves a series of rotations in different departments at the store, supported by a dedicated job coach and tutor. Learners gain real workplace experience while developing employability skills, with the goal of progressing into paid employment.
